Apple will release software updating, which again activates the function of measuring oxygen in the blood on some models of its watches in the United States. This became possible after approval by the customs authorities against the backdrop of the ongoing judicial dispute with Masimo.
We are talking about the models of the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. When starting, they were deprived of this function, since earlier Apple was forced to turn it off due to a patent conflict. The update will allow users to run the measurement session through the application on the clock, after which the data will be processed and displayed on the attached iPhone.
The legal confrontation with the California company Masimo has been going on for several years. Masimo accused Apple that she allegedly lured her employees and used pulsoximetry technologies without permission. In 2023, the US International Trade Commission supported Masimo and introduced the ban on the import of some Apple watches.
Masimo has not yet given official comments about the situation.
