In China, a publication related to the CCTV state television appeared on Wechat social networks, in which the NVIDIA H20 chips are called outdated, unsafe and non -emotional. The authors called on Chinese companies to abandon their use in favor of domestic decisions.
H20 was released as a simplified version of the flagship H200 to circumvent the US restrictions on the supply of high -performance graphic processors to China. Its performance is much lower, but the demand for the chip was high, which helped NVIDIA to achieve record revenue, despite temporary export restrictions in 2025.
In China, there are fears that H20 chips may contain hidden functions of surveillance or “bookmarks”. This is due to initiatives in the United States, which discusses measures for the mandatory implementation of geolocation in powerful GPU. The Chinese authorities have already summoned NVIDIA representatives to explain about potential security threats, but the company said that its products did not contain bacdors and espionage functions.
