According to the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Chernyshev, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the near future will insure pilots from errors associated with the human factor. He told about this during the Technoprom-2025 forum in Novosibirsk.
Chernyshev noted that from 70 to 80% of aviation disasters occur due to crew errors. The introduction of artificial intelligence will reduce this indicator, while the pilots will remain in the control circuit. Currently, the Zhukovsky NIC is developing an intellectual assistant pilot and a system of technical vision.
The expert admits that in the future, a transition to completely autonomous flights is possible. However, this process will be gradual and will begin with individual vehicles, for example, aviattaxi. For passenger airliners, such solutions will require long -term development and testing.
