In Russia, a new scheme of fraud is recorded in which attackers lure access codes for public services, impersoning law enforcement officers.
The victim is reported that a microloan is decorated in her name, and they offer “help” in his review. During a conversation, SMS with codes for entering various services come to the phone, which creates the effect of urgency and reliability of the situation.
Further, scammers are asked to provide data for entering the State Services, supposedly for the cancellation of the application. Having gained access, they can arrange loans, kidnap personal data and use it for other crimes.
Experts warn: such attacks are based on social engineering and the desire of the victim to quickly solve the “problem”.
To protect yourself, you can not transfer codes by phone, follow suspicious links, use two -factor authentication and regularly change passwords.
According to the II quarter of 2025, scammers stole 6.3 billion rubles among Russians, and almost 39 million attacks were recorded.
