Since September, Russian buyers will be able to return the smartphone as poor quality if it cannot be installed on it Rustore and other domestic applications. This was announced by the first deputy head of the Committee of the Council of State Construction, Artem Sheikin, writes TASS. The innovation will affect all smartphones, including the iPhone.
On September 1, a law enters into force, which obliges manufacturers and suppliers of gadgets in Russia to ensure the possibility of free installation and updating of Russian applications.
If the manufacturer or supplier does not provide the installation of Rustore, the buyer has the right to return it as poor quality, Shekin explained.
According to the politician, the new rules are important for the technological independence and information security of the country. Previously, dependence on foreign platforms has already led to restricting access to important digital services and “imposing” conditions inconvenient for Russian users.
