Google has released a compact version of its open AI model-Gemma 3 270M, designed to work directly on devices, including smartphones and even browsers. The model has 270 million parameters – much less than the previous versions (from 1 to 27 billion), but retains a decent level of performance, the media write.
The main advantages of AI are locally working – it is confidentiality and high response speed. In tests on the Pixel 9 Pro Gemma 3 270M smartphone, she was able to conduct 25 dialogs using only 0.75% of the battery.
According to the IFEVAL test, which checks the ability of AI to follow the instructions, the model showed the result of 51.2% – higher than many analogues of larger size.
Google notes that the model can be quickly and inexpensive to learn to specific tasks.
Gemma 3 270M is available for free on Huging Face, Kaggle and Google Vertex AI in two versions – previously trained and with tuning under the instructions.
