In the Northern Arctic Federal University (SAFU) in Arkhangelsk, a technology for processing multi -layer packaging of tetrapack in Ecowata was developed – environmentally insulating material. Installation divides the packaging into cellulose and polymer components.
Traditionally, Ecowatus was produced from newspaper paper, but with a reduction in print circulations, there was a need for alternative raw materials. The new technology solves two problems at once: the disposal of complex composite materials and the production of the demanded building material.
As explained at the university, the tetrapak consists of a cardboard base and polymer layers. The developed method allows you to allocate a pulp mass, which, although not suitable for the manufacture of paper, is ideal for the production of ecovata. This material has fire resistance and resistance to pests.
The technology has already been tested on the production site of the Bastion Partner company, which is engaged in sorting and processing solids in the Arkhangelsk region. The first batches of insulation were obtained, the demand for which is especially growing in the summer construction season.
The development was supported by the Russian Arctic Scientific and Educational Center and the Innovation Promotion Fund. Scientists received a patent for a new processing method.
