At the Made By Google event, which has been on August 20, the company introduced new functions for the Google photo service. Now users will be able to ask the application to edit their photos. First, this function will be available on the new Pixel 10 phics in the United States. With its help, it will be possible to say or describe what exactly needs to be changed in the image.
Google also introduces support for the C2PA Content Credentials standard in Google photos on Pixel 10 devices. This standard provides transparency of creating images and use of AI. The Pixel C2PA operates in the Camera application for all photos, even without AI.
The new editing function in Google is called “editing on request.” It works thanks to Gemini technology and allows you to change photos, simply speaking in a natural language. For example, you can ask you to remove cars in the background or return the old photo. This is especially useful for those who are not very well versed in editing photos.
The “Editing” function can perform different tasks: configure lighting, remove unnecessary items, change the background or add something new in the photo. Google offers to use it to add accessories, for example, sunglasses or a festive hat.
If the user is not sure what exactly wants to change, you can start with a general request, for example, “make it better.” The photo will automatically become better. The application will also offer changes options and make it possible to make additional edits.
Google said that at first this function will be available only on Pixel 10 phones. In the coming weeks, it will appear in Google photos on the iPhone and other Android phones.
