The press service of the MIREA RTU reported that the university experts developed a cloud platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) for automatic refereeing in competitions in drones. The system is designed to ensure the maximum objectivity of assessments, accurately analyzing the promotion of each participant.
The platform processes the video from the drone camera and data from its on -board sensors. With the help of mathematical algorithms, it recreates a complete flight path, virtually reconstructing each maneuver in digital space. Then AI breaks the flight into separate elements and compares them with the reference figures.
At the current stage of development, the system confidently recognizes more than 12 typical pilots and their variations. This allows not only to automatically record violations, for example, the gate pass, but also to conduct a detailed analysis of the pilot technique.
According to the developers, the accumulation of statistics on many flights opens up prospects for the formation of recommendations for coaches.
