The Foundation “Nature and People” and the company “Leman Pro” launched the project “Guardians of the Forest”. The purpose of the project is to protect the untouched primordial forests of Russia – Flora and the fauna of these places. As part of the project, forests in the Arkhangelsk region, Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygea and Stavropol Territory will be studied.
One of the tasks of the project is to find the most valuable parts of the forest and find out what rare plants and animals live there. After the data analysis, experts will create a new map of these forests. Its boundaries will be shown on it, and scientists will explain why these forests need to be guarded.
The information will be transferred to the authorities and companies that are engaged in logging. They will use this data to save forests.
According to RIA Novosti, special attention will be paid to the places where the northern deer live. In the Arkhangelsk region and Karelia will monitor their habitat. Will complete this work by the end of November.
