2Gis specialists integrated information on the public points of Wi-Fi into cards. Thanks to this, users will be able to connect to a wireless network in cases where the mobile Internet is unstable or malfunctions.
Wi-Fi access points are located in various locations, including public transport stops, parks, libraries, cultural institutions, cafes and restaurants, shopping centers. Data is collected on the basis of information provided by city administrations and Internet providers, as well as on the basis of open sources and messages from various organizations.
Now the 2GIS database already includes more than 12,400 Wi-Fi points in 17 cities of Russia, including Moscow, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Naberezhnye Chelletevsk, Togliatti, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, Cheboksary and Magnitogorsk.
According to the 2GIS press service, the list of cities and the number of available access points to the network is regularly replenished. The company plans to expand the lists of cities, include St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk in them, as well as other settlements.
The search for Wi-Fi access points is no different from the search for familiar places: you need to write relevant requests in the search date. Such a search works as on iOS, TC both on Android, and on the 2GIS.ru website. You can use the search both in online and in offline mode, but for this you first need to download the city maps.
“Wi-Fi access points are located in public transport stops, in parks, libraries, cultural institutions, as well as in catering establishments and in the shopping center. Information about the points is provided by the administrations of cities, Internet providers, as well as the 2GIS specialists are collected on the basis of open data and messages from organizations, ”the company’s press service said.
