In the Don-You reserve in the Ust-Kulomsky district of the Komi Republic, the population of Red Book gray cranes decreased greatly. The reserve is located in the upper reaches of the River Podcheg.

Scientists from the Institute of Biology of the DCC of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences conducted a study in this reserve in 2025. Experts studied rare and endangered species of animals that are listed in the Red Book of Komi. The expedition studied the fauna of lakes, swamps and forests, where these animals live.

As a result, scientists found that two rare species of birds live in the Don-Ta reserve, the population of which is the maximum habitat for their habitat, a large hollow and swamp moon. These birds are found in the region near the northern border of their habitat.

A large drink lives in small ponds with thick vegetation along the shores of Lake Donta. The marsh luna builds nests in places with dense booty thickets.

Gray cranes also live on large swamps. In recent years, there are very few of them. In the 1980s, up to 17 pairs of cranes nested there, now no more than 4-5 pairs.

The number of small drinks, swan-clicun and a large spindle remains stable, but there are few of them.

The Don-You reserve is an important place to relax and nutrition of birds during their flights. There are many different plants that help birds restore strength. Information about the number of rare birds will be used to update the Red Book of Komi.
