In Taiwan, a large scandal erupted around the TSMC secret leakage: the company confirmed that nine of its engineers were arrested for draining data about the 2-nm process.
According to Taiwan Economic Daily, employees worked remotely from corporate laptops and with the help of smartphones photographed confidential information from the database.
More than 400 images containing information about trial production and key technological solutions were recorded.
It is noteworthy that the engineers were detained in a coffee shop, where they probably discussed or passed these materials. According to the sources, access to the suspects lasted only a few minutes and was limited only by the section on the 2-nm process.
Although initially suspicions fell on China or Russia, the media claims that the leak could go towards Japan, namely, to Rapidus.
One of the previously arrested worked at Tokyo Electron. Despite the lack of direct evidence, attention to Rapidus is caused by its rapid progress in the development of 2-nm technology.
