Google has recently introduced new devices – Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 4. But in an interview with Bloomberg, the company also said that they did not plan to release it yet. Firstly, Google is not going to make “folders” like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Also suspended work on a new tablet: in fact, Pixel Tablet 2 was canceled. In addition, the company does not work on smart rings.
As for glasses, everything is more complicated here. Google already showed prototypes and even allowed them to test, but the head of the device of the Rick Osterlokh admitted that it was still unclear whether such glasses will appear on sale. He is only sure that the category of augmented reality points is important for the future company. In the meantime, Google is betting on the XR harp, which it creates with Samsung, and on the development of the Android XR platform for partners.
An interesting detail: according to Osterlokh and his deputy, the possible points of the future can do without a display and work in a pair with a smartphone, which, if necessary, unfolds into a full screen.
The company is careful: the memory of the failure of the first Google Glass is still fresh.
