One of the most popular Microsoft mobile applications – the Microsoft Lens and iOS scanner – will stop working soon. From mid -September 2025, the application will cease to be available for new installations on Google Play and App Store. By mid -November, it will be removed from stores, and after December 15, 2025, the function of creating new scans will completely turn off.
Microsoft Lens, previously known as Office Lens, helps to quickly turn photos and notes into PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. The application downloaded more than 50 million times only on Google Play, and users estimate it at 4.8 out of 5.
Old scans will remain available in the MyScans folder even after disconnecting, but Microsoft advises to switch to the Microsoft 365 Copilot application.
The completion of Lens support is part of the large “cleaning” in the Microsoft ecosystem. Recently, the company has also refused to auto passwords in Microsoft Authenticator, announced the closure of Microsoft Publisher in 2026 and removed Paint 3D from its store.
