The development of solid -state drives at the Petrozavodsk State University (PetrGU) is approaching the payback point. The project implemented on the grant of the federal target program almost returned the budget funds allocated for research.
The industrial partner of the university has established serial production and annually shipped products worth more than 50 million rubles. The drives are intended for industrial use, where high failure tolerance of systems is required, and focused on import substitution.
The standard line includes models of 1, 4 and 8 terabyte with SATA and NVME interfaces. For special orders, it is possible to release more drives. The technology is distinguished by a high degree of localization – the developers have learned to create their own memory modules and collect them on domestic solutions.
The project brought the university not only commercial success, but also the development of infrastructure. Own production lines and the base department appeared in PetrGU, and scientists have acquired new competencies in the development of electronic devices.
