Putin emphasized Russia’s own powerful quantum computers

At a meeting with representatives of the nuclear industry, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the development and availability of quantum computing systems of high performance in the country. According to the head of state, these devices have the potential for the development of new drugs, vaccines and various materials, as well as for rapid processing of significant amounts of data.

The President emphasized that Rosatom successfully completed the project to develop prototypes of quantum systems that demonstrate impressive computing characteristics. In addition, Putin noted that in the city of Obninsk, the Kaluga Region, the construction of the largest enterprises in Europe for the production of radiopharmaceuticals intended for the diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases, including oncology.

Putin also pointed out the need to use quantum computing systems in the installations of the Megasayens class, including those created at the National Center for Physics and Mathematics in Sarov.

“To develop new medicines, vaccines, materials, to quickly treat the colossal volume of data allow quantum computers. Thanks to the efforts of Rosatom in Russia, prototypes of such systems with huge computational capabilities have already been collected, ”the president emphasized.
