The Ministry of Construction of Russia allocated 750 million rubles to create domestic technologies for the new generation communication networks. The project will be implemented by Skoltkh for three years with the participation of leading technical universities in the country.
According to the university’s press service, work is underway as part of a roadmap of mobile networks. The main attention will be focused on 5G Advanced technologies and the creation of a scientific inscription for 6G. The project is attended by MIPTs, MIEM NIU HSE, MTUSI, MEPhI and NIC Telecom.
The rector of Skoltha Alexander Kuleshov noted that the university has already fulfilled 5G obligations – the developed base stations were set in 37 regions. The new project includes the development of software for base stations, a network control systems based on AI, digital doubles and antenna systems.
Skoltha’s wireless design center will become the main venue for research. As emphasized at the university, the launch of developments is timely, given the active work of other countries in this direction.
The results of the project should create the basis for the introduction of networks 6G by 2030.
