Russian communication operators will be obliged to report digital crimes

The Russian government plans to oblige operators of communications, Internet providers and information platforms to notify law enforcement agencies on signs of digital crimes. The relevant initiative will be worked out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Councils, the FSB and Roskomnadzor together with the Prosecutor General’s Prosecutor General and the Investigative Committee.

Legislative changes can be made already in the third quarter of 2027. This is part of a comprehensive plan to combat cybercrime, which also includes strengthening the protection of personal data.

Separately, the issue of increasing responsibility for violations in the field of personal data processing is being considered. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Economic Development, the FSB and Roskomnadzor will propose to increase the statute of limitations for administrative responsibility for such offenses.

Also, in Russia Planning To develop an algorithm to identify cases of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the commission of cybercrime. The work will enter into a plan for the fight against digital fraud, approved by the government.
