Appsec Solutions experts reported the risk of leakage of these Russians when renting scooters and cars. Experts checked the 13 most popular in Russia applications for car sharing (car rental) and rental of electric scooters. As a result, more than 400 errors were found, of which 25 were very dangerous.
According to the CNews portal, car sharing applications collect a lot of personal data of users, such as photos of passports and bank card data. And it can be very dangerous. Electric scooters rental services also collect personal data to use it, in the event of an offense by the user.
According to Nikita Pinaev, the head of the security analysis department Appsec.sting, many applications store sensitive information without protection, which can allow attackers to steal it. Another common problem is the lack of systems that can detect if someone is trying to hack the application. Of course, among the studied applications there were products without errors.
Among the problem are the most common situation – the storage and transfer of personal data without encryption and other protection. For example, during a previous audit, in 2024, Appsec Solutions experts found 1818 errors, of which 650 were very serious or critical.
