The 26-year-old al-Tyeri al-Mashriki from South Yorkshire (Great Britain) was sentenced to 20 months in prison for cyber attacks and storage of stolen data. According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), he participated in the activities of the Hactivist group Yemen Cyber Army.
The investigation found that al-Mashriki hacked and “spoiled” sites, placing hidden pages on them with political and religious messages. He also kept the stolen personal data of millions of people on his laptop. The hacker himself at one of the forums stated that in just three months of 2022 he hacked more than 3 thousand sites, mainly with low protection.
The investigation began after American intelligence associated him with extremist groups of Spider Team and Yemen Cyber Army. The examination confirmed his participation in the hacks of government sites of Yemen and the Israeli news resource.
