The mobile operator T2 announced the implementation of Voice Over Wi-Fi (Vowifi) technology in 64 regions of Russia for six months. The coating expanded to 13 regions every week. Vowifi technology is especially useful for restrictions on calls to foreign instant messengers to communicate with contacts abroad.
The company said in a press release that the introduction of Vowifi will allow subscribers T2 to be able to make and receive calls even with a weak or complete absence of a signal from external basic stations. To do this, it is enough to have access to the Wi-Fi network.
Vowifi implementation work started in March 2025, when the functionality became available in Tambov and Stavropol. After the technology was expanded to Moscow and St. Petersburg. At the same time, the operator’s specialists connected to 13 new regions every week. Like the launch of the Volte in 2024, T2 sought to provide subscribers as quickly as possible with a new function, and the work was completed in less than six months.
Now Vowifi technology is actively used in 64 T2 coating regions and is available to users whose devices support this service. To activate the new function, it is enough to enable Vowifi in the phone settings. This function is especially useful for remote areas, office buildings, basements and other places with a weak signal. Vowifi calls are rated at the standard prices for voice traffic, without additional fees for the service.
