Tesla announced the redistribution of efforts in the development of chips for artificial intelligence (AI). The company will focus on creating chips for an incorporate-processing AI models and making decisions in real time. This decision followed after the messages of the team engaged in the Dojo supercomputer.
Dojo is a supercomputer developed for teaching Tesla autopilot systems using huge volumes of data and video from the company’s electric vehicles. Earlier, the media wrote that Tesla’s leadership dismissed the Dojo team, and its leader left the company. Tesla itself officially did not give comments.
The head of Tesla, Ilon Musk, explained that the separation of resources into the development of two different types of and chips is inappropriate. The company will focus on the new Tesla AI5, AI6 chips and subsequent models that will be optimal for the infront and good enough for teaching models.
