The space company of the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos Blue Origin and the military-distributed company Anduril Industries will begin to study the technologies for the delivery of goods from orbit to Earth in the interests of the Pentagon.
The US Air Force concluded contracts with both companies to study the possibilities of transporting goods from orbit to the surface of the earth. Research will be conducted by contractors and the Air Force laboratory.
Research and development will be carried out as part of the Regal project, which is an experimental unit of the US Air Force Research and Development Program, aimed at creating a reusable missile cargo system. The main goal of the program is to test commercial reusable missile systems and transport transportation technologies.
Blue Origin will analyze the possibilities of transporting materials between various orbital and ground points. Anduril will focus on developing a descent container for transporting goods weighing from five to ten tons.
