The new GPT-5 model from Openai has criticized users. It is less interesting and smart compared to the previous version. Nevertheless, OpenAI Director General Sam Altman is confident in the future of his company and the industry as a whole.
At a meeting with journalists in San Francisco, Altman recognized errors when starting the GPT-5, but noted that the demand for the product is still high. According to him, the API traffic doubled in 48 hours, and the number of ChatGPT users continues to grow. Altman emphasized that the company has learned lessons from a massive product update for hundreds of millions of people in one day.
Altman also agreed with the opinion that the AI industry can be a “bubble” like the Internet 2000s-many investments have not yet brought profit, but technology has real potential.
At the same time, Altman said that Openai is ready to spend trillions of dollars on the construction of data centers and the development of II infrastructure in the near future.
