The state corporation Roscosmos confirmed that the launch of the Bion-M biological satellite No. 2 will be held on August 20 from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The device has already been seasoned with fuel and compressed gases, preparation for the start goes according to plan.
Earlier, the Institute of Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences also reported that the launch is scheduled for August 20. The main task of the satellite is to study the impact of cosmic conditions on living organisms and preparation for future flights.
On board “Bion-M” No. 2 there will be 75 mice, about 1.5 thousand flies of Drosophil, as well as various plants and microorganisms. These biological objects are sent to space for scientific research.
Earlier on the Bion-M satellite No. 2 were Completed Testing the scientific module “Telenau”, developed by the specialists of the Rosel holding (part of Rostec) and the Research Institute of Television with the participation of Roscosmos. Equipment will allow real -time to receive video information for research in the field of biology, physiology and biotechnology.
