Fraudsters began to deceive Russians through a popular Google Meet video calls. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, reports Lenta.ru.
The department explained that the attackers chose Google Meet because it is installed on most smartphones with Android. This simplifies deception: scammers do not need to convince the victim for a long time to download and install additional programs.
Previously, the main communication channel for scammers – voice calls through foreign messengers – was limited, but the criminals did not stop working. They found a bypass and began to use Google Meet for their schemes.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds the Russians to be careful when communicating through video calls, especially with unknown people, and not trust suspicious links or requests to transfer money.
