The press service of the Center for Biometric Technologies (Central Bank) reported that they plan to introduce a digital service in Russia, which will confirm age when buying goods with restrictions without presenting a passport.
The corresponding draft government decree has already been published for public discussion. The new service will be an alternative to the traditional method of checking documents. For its operation, data from state systems will be used, including a single biometric system and a single system of identification and authentication (ESIA). Integration with MAX messenger is also possible.
The Central Bank explained that changes in the legislation are necessary to launch the service. Now the developers are finalizing the user interface and conduct integration tests.
If the initiative is implemented, Russians will be able to confirm their age in a digital way when buying alcohol, tobacco and other products with age -related restrictions.
