The State Duma offered to block content with obscene vocabulary

12.08.2025

State Duma deputy Andrei Svintsov (LDPR) introduced a bill on blocking an Internet content with obscene vocabulary. The initiative involves amendments to the Law “On Information”, which now does not provide for such restrictions for digital platforms.

According to the document, the authors of the content before the publication will have to use the same censorship methods as on television – use sound signals or a change. Otherwise, the materials can be blocked by decision of the prosecutor’s office.

The explanatory note notes that such restrictions are already valid for television and radio programs. The bill must extend these rules to social networks and other digital platforms.

The author of the initiative believes that this will create a more clear mechanism for the fight against obscene vocabulary on the Internet.
