The University of Novgorod created a program to protect data from leaks

07.08.2025

The Novgorod State University has developed a “gaze” software complex, which helps to protect important information from leaks and control the actions of users on computers. This was written by TASS with reference to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The developer is a teacher at NovSU Dmitry Kurorodin. His program in real time shows what is happening on the user screen, fixes the keystrokes and tracks which applications are launched. The system can also recognize “prohibited” words related to violation of the law. When they are entered, the security officers receive a signal and start checking.

The “gaze” consists of two parts: client, which is installed on employees’ computers, and server – for obtaining and storage of data. The program does not save the data locally, which excludes the possibility of substitution or deleting their user.

One of the main advantages of “gaze” is video surveillance and data collection occur without a strong load on the system and do not interfere with work. The video is broadcast with a delay of no more than four seconds.

The program is already used in IT restors, and in the future it can be applied in organizations where information security is important. The Gaze works on Windows and Linux and is registered in Rospatent.
