Scientists from the Ural Federal University have developed a biological product that helps plants grow faster and better cope with adverse conditions. For example, soil salinization and heavy metals.
To create the drug, experts used beneficial bacteria found on the shores of the salty lake of Atavaly in the Kurgan region. These bacteria produce substances that stimulate plant growth, and are resistant to salty environment.
In the laboratory, bacteria was grown and made of them a biological product – a kind of bacterial fertilizer. Now they conduct tests on wheat and barley, growing them both on clean and salted soil. The first results showed that plants with a biological product grow faster and better tolerate stress.
