Wikipedia suspended a two -week test of the functions of summarizing – simplified versions of articles created by artificial intelligence, after mass discontent of the editors community.
The experiment was planned to be launched on June 2 on the mobile version of the site: 10% of users could see brief and resume at the beginning of some articles. These texts should have simplified the content, but at the same time undergo a check of editors.
However, the news caused a sharp reaction: hundreds of comments on the Wikipedia Village Pump forum were almost unanimously against.
Critics recalled that Google was already faced with “ill-war situations” because of his AI gallows, which, for example, advised to eat glue. The editors emphasized that the Wikipedia supposedly appreciates for “seriousness and reliability”, and the race for fashionable and function can “undermine the confidence of readers”.
