ASML Netherlands, a manufacturer of equipment for the manufacture of microcircuits, intends to expand cooperation with Indian enterprises. This is due to the plans of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop local chips production and reduce the import of critical technologies.
At the Semicon India summit, the general director of ASML Christoph Fouquet said that the company is ready to support India through knowledge exchange, training of specialists and the introduction of advanced lithographic solutions that will help local factories achieve a modern production level. Details about the timing or models of equipment in the company have not yet been disclosed.
India expects to launch the production of the first chips before the end of the year. It is planned that at the initial stage, the country will produce less complex microcircuits, and not high -tech chips for artificial intelligence. The local market can be a new area for ASML equipment sales.
