Despite the pressure from the authorities, the largest Chinese IT companies, including Alibaba and BYTEDANCE, continue to actively order the NVIDIA H20 graphic accelerators. It is reported by Reuters with reference to sources familiar with procurement negotiations.
The H20 model is a special version adapted to American export restrictions. Interest in it in China is maintained due to a deficiency of competitive solutions from Huawei and Cambricon.
According to the agency’s interlocutors, NVIDIA’s performance and ecosystem are still significantly superior to local analogues. Companies are closely monitoring the development of a new B30A chip at the Blackwell architecture.
If it is approved for export, the cost can be twice as much as H20 – up to $ 20,000 apiece. But performance, according to rumors, will be six times higher.
Chinese regulators previously called representatives of Tencent and ByTedance to explain about the procurement of H20, but NVIDIA did not follow an official ban on using NVIDIA products.
Meanwhile, the company itself estimates the Chinese market at $ 50 billion and already has a margin of up to 700,000 chips for supplies.
