In the Sakhalin region, for the first time in Russia, a sea drone was used to deliver information materials to the elections. The drone transferred documents from the city of Nevelsk to the distant island of Moneron.
This pilot project was implemented by the election commission of the region with the support of the local government. The use of unmanned technologies is especially relevant for Sakhalin, where there are many inaccessible points, where materials are traditionally delivered by a helicopter.
According to the authorities, the use of drones is economically more profitable than air transportation and does not require the use of human resources. The unmanned boat successfully overcame 63 kilometers by sea, delivering not only elected materials, but also 300 kg of useful cargo for employees of the local park.
In the transported goods, it included primary necessity, fuel and medication. From September 3 to 13 in the Nevelsky district, early elections will be held.
