Specialists of the Center for Language and Brain of the Higher School of Economics have developed the first standardized application in Russia for the diagnosis of dyslexia in children. The program is designed to evaluate reading skills in schoolchildren in grades 1-4 and allows you to identify violations or risk of their development.

The university’s press service reported that the new digital test offers an alternative to the traditional diagnostic methodology that requires reading the text aloud and answers to questions. Development allows an assessment in just three minutes, determining the correspondence of the level of reading age norm.

The application takes into account the features of different groups of children: Russian -speaking, bilinguals from the national republics and those for whom the Russian language is foreign. The development is based on many years of research of the Center for the creation of Diaxia diagnostics tools.

According to the developers, timely identification of problems will help teachers and speech therapists to provide the necessary support for children in time. This will increase the chances of successful mastery of reading and prevent future learning difficulties.

The application has already been tested, which confirmed that reading from the tablet is comparable to traditional reading from paper.
