In the Swiss commune, Regensdorf launched a pilot project to deliver parcels and products using autonomous robots.
The initiative is implemented by the Swiss Post, the Migros online service and RIVR, which produces RIVR One robots-a commercial version of the Anymal model developed in Eth Zurich.
RIVR One is a four -legged robot with wheels instead of feet. In a blocked position, they work as supports and allow you to overcome stairs and irregularities, and in free – they provide fast movement on asphalt and tiles.

For navigation, Lidar, cameras and GPS are used, and cargo is transported in a lockable container. According to the test conditions, robots will travel with the Swiss Post vans and deliver individual Migros Online orders and customer packages directly to the door.
Although they move autonomously, operators are monitoring their work, who are ready if necessary to take control. Note that earlier RIVR One has already been tested in Zurich and even in Austin (USA), where he delivered food and parcels.
