03.09.2025

At the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts (AGIKI), they created the laboratory of ethno -musical studies “Sounds of North Asia.” She will engage in digitalization and preservation of folklore of the peoples of Siberia and the Far East. This was reported by TASS with reference to the rector of the Institute of Sargylan Ignatiev at the Eastern Economic Forum.

The laboratory has been digitized by the audiovisual archives of traditional culture, collected since the 1960s. These materials include legends, myths, ritual songs, instrumental music and the sounds of nature used in the musical tradition of the peoples of North Asia. The archive covers data collected in 104 expeditions from 1966 to 2010.

Now researchers will be able to work with audio, video and text materials, use modern technologies-artificial intelligence, 3D modeling and acoustic analysis. The laboratory also supports the educational and scientific activities of the institute, helping students and teachers to study and popularize traditional culture.
