Openai intends to release its first chip for artificial intelligence (AI) in 2026. The development is implemented together with the American manufacturer of Boadcom semiconductors, reports Financial Times with reference to sources familiar with the project.
According to the publication, the new chip is planned to be used only within the company. He will ensure the operation of Openai services and will not enter the external market.
OpenAi actively increases the capacities for the training and operation of its models. The growth of interest in generative artificial intelligence increased the demand for computing resources, which has made the issue of independence from suppliers especially relevant.
Earlier it was reported that the company cooperates not only with Broadcom, but also with Taiwan Semiconductor Manoufacturing Company, which will be made by chips. At the same time, Openai continues to apply AMD and NVIDIA solutions to cover the growing infrastructure needs.
