On December 25, a ceremony titled “The International Year of Peace and Trust: The Confident Steps of Neutral Turkmenistan” was held at the “Mekan” Palace in the capital under the auspices of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan. The event brought together members of the Government, representatives of the national diplomatic service, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations accredited in Ashgabat, as well as citizens working in various sectors and young people.
Cultural and artistic performances were presented at the venue of the celebration. Participants viewed an exhibition dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, and to the achievements our country has attained on the bright path of Independence and permanent Neutrality.
The ceremony then continued in the conference hall of the “Mekan” Palace. R. Bazarov, Head of the Administration of the Office of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, congratulated the participants and emphasized the significance of the event entitled “The International Year of Peace and Trust: The Confident Steps of Neutral Turkmenistan”.
The State Anthem of Turkmenistan was performed. Thereafter, speeches were delivered by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov; Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, Hero of Turkmenistan A. Atayeva; UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Bernd Heinz; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Ravshanbek Alimov; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani; resident of the Vekilbazar district of Mary province B. Hojaberdyev; lecturer of the International University of Humanities and Development Ch. Vekilova; and student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan O. Sahetmyradov.
The ceremony concluded with the awarding of the jubilee medal “30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality” and a commemorative silver badge to the heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations in Turkmenistan, as well as to citizens of our country.
