Yuki Tokunaga, a specialist from the University of Tokyo and founder of the “Gulpediya” association, visited the Turkmen State Institute of Culture to conduct a lecture titled “History of Japanese Craftsmanship” for the students. As a renowned cultural expert, Yuki Tokunaga has gained international recognition for his research in craftsmanship, cultural exchange, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, as well as his initiatives to restore disappearing artistic traditions.
During the session, the Japanese expert engaged in an open dialogue with the youth, highly praising the Turkmen students’ knowledge and their deep interest in world culture. Additionally, the guest enthusiastically watched performances by the institute’s “Miras” folklore and dance ensemble, as well as traditional folk games showcasing the ancient customs and traditions of the Turkmen people.
Yuki Tokunaga also visited the academic laboratories to observe the practical work of the Department of Restoration of Cultural Values and Museum Studies. He was particularly impressed by the exhibitions of national treasures and artworks dedicated to historical monuments. This meeting contributed to the further strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties and the exchange of experience between the two countries.
