During his working visit to Tokyo to participate in the first summit of the “Central Asia — Japan” dialogue, the Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov today held meetings with the Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, Fukushiro Nukaga, and the Head of the Japanese side of the Turkmen‑Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group, Endo Toshiaki. The meetings discussed issues of traditional interstate cooperation, including the development of inter‑parliamentary relations.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Japan actively cooperate within reputable international organizations, particularly within the framework of the United Nations.
The importance of the initiative put forward by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, to hold the first meeting of the heads of parliaments of Central Asian countries and Japan in the “Central Asia — Japan” format was underlined. Proposals were voiced to strengthen the work of the Turkmen‑Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group and to establish a mechanism for interaction between women leaders of the two countries.
