People’s Artist of Russia Vera Alentova has passed away at the age of 83. On December 25, during the farewell ceremony with Anatoly Lobotsky, the actress’s condition suddenly deteriorated, and she was urgently hospitalized. According to the publication “SHOT”, the cause of death was acute heart failure.
Alentova was born in 1942 in the Arkhangelsk Region. In 1961, she came to Moscow and was admitted to the acting department of the V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Moscow Art Academic Theatre. After graduating, she joined the troupe of the Moscow Drama Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin. In 1965, she made her cinema debut, portraying the role of a young teacher in the film “Flying Days” (Dni letnie).
The actress gained worldwide fame for her leading role in the Oscar-winning film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears”. She also earned the love of audiences with her performances in numerous films, including “Tomorrow Was the War” (Zavtra byla voyna), “Shirli-Myrli”, and “At the Age of Balzac…”.
