U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a new strategy aimed at ensuring the nation’s superiority in the space sector. According to the official document released by the White House press office, key objectives include landing American astronauts on the Moon by 2028 and establishing a permanent scientific base there by 2030.
The presidential order envisions attracting at least $50 billion in additional investment into the U.S. space market by 2028 to foster economic growth. Furthermore, the administration aims to develop a commercial pathway to replace the International Space Station by 2030. The directive also mandates the development of a nuclear reactor for the lunar surface, which must be ready for launch by 2030 to provide a sustainable power source.
Significant structural changes are also being implemented in space governance. Under the decree, the National Space Council is dissolved, and its authorities are transferred to the Office of Science and Technology Policy. This shift is intended to streamline decision-making and ensure that space programs are executed more efficiently on a scientific and technical basis.
