Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – 19 December 2025 – The fourth meeting of the National Multisectoral Coordination Committee on the implementation of the “One Health” approach in Turkmenistan was held today at the United Nations Building in Ashgabat.

The event was organized by the WHO CO in Turkmenistan and focused on reviewing progress achieved under the project “Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Pandemics within the One Health Initiative in Central Asia, in Turkmenistan.” It also aimed at discussing opportunities and further measures to strengthen capacity for implementing the One Health approach in Turkmenistan and activities under the above-mentioned project for 2026.
The event brought together representatives from key ministries, including Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan, alongside international partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Bank and CAREC.
The meeting discussions highlighted advancements across health, veterinary, and environmental sectors, as well as collaborative efforts with international organizations. Participants examined achievements during the second half of 2025 and explored opportunities to strengthen national capacity for implementing the One Health approach.
Sector-specific updates, interactive question-and-answer sessions, and strategic planning for joint activities in 2026 formed an integral part of the meeting. Emphasis was placed on enhancing intersectoral cooperation to prevent, detect, and respond to health threats at the human–animal–environment interface.
The meeting concluded with agreement on priority actions and reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing the One Health agenda in Turkmenistan.
