The Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan successfully organised its fifth annual intellectual tournament, the “Winter Cup 2025,” in Ashgabat. The tournament was dedicated to European Christmas and New Year traditions.

This year’s tournament attracted a record number of participants, with 51 teams registered, representing more than 300 participants in total. Among them were 12 teams from higher education institutions across the country, alongside teams composed of school students, young professionals, and representatives of various sectors. The competition was conducted in Turkmen and Russian, ensuring broad participation and inclusivity.

The tournament consisted of two preliminary rounds and a final round. Teams were required to find the correct answer to each question within one minute, demonstrating logical thinking, analytical skills, quick decision-making, and teamwork.

Following an engaging and competitive series of rounds, first place was awarded to the team “N K B,” second place to the team “Chocolate Owl,” and third place to “Smile and Wave” team.

The programme was complemented by a live performance from the Turkmen singer Shad Ovez, who performed during the breaks between the rounds. His appearance added a festive atmosphere to the event and was warmly received by the audience, particularly by young participants, among whom he enjoys great popularity.

The annual “Winter Cup” intellectual tournament has become a well-established platform for dialogue, learning, and youth engagement. Through initiatives such as this, the EU Delegation continues to foster cultural exchange and people-to-people connections, while encouraging critical thinking, inclusivity, and mutual understanding among young people in Turkmenistan.
