On 29 January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin, who arrived in Ashgabat for consultations, was received by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the sides discussed key issues on the Russia–Turkmenistan agenda, including the schedule of upcoming high‑level contacts, prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects in cultural, humanitarian, and educational spheres.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to steadily advancing comprehensive cooperation in the spirit of deepened strategic partnership.
The Russian side emphasized its readiness to provide full support to Turkmenistan during its chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, a year that will mark the 35th anniversary of the CIS.
The talks also included an in‑depth exchange of views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
