A meeting aimed at strengthening humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held at the State library of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan.

Library director Lachyn Nurmuhammedova received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani and cultural advisor Abdolreza Abbasi. The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, science, and education.
During the visit, Iranian diplomats visited specialised sections of the library. The guests were introduced to a rich collection of books in Persian, as well as the works of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, translated into the languages of the world. Particular attention was paid to unique ancient manuscripts and first printed copies, which represent high historical value.

The meeting concluded with a ceremonial donation of books to the library collection. As a symbol of the unbreakable bonds of good neighbourliness, Ambassador Ali Mojtaba Ruzbehani presented the library with a Persian translation of book of the Hero-Arkadag «Worship of the mother – worship of the holy one». Advisor Abdolreza Abbasi, on behalf of the Cultural centre of the IRI in Ashgabat, donated more than 40 Persian-language publications, which will expand the collection of foreign literature.
This event marked another step in the development of intercultural dialogue and underscored mutual respect for the literary heritage of the two countries.
