Turkmenistan prioritizes construction of the TAPI gas pipeline section in 2026

ASHGABAT, January 10. The Government of Turkmenistan has identified the successful construction of the Serhetabat–Herat section of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline as one of the top priorities for the oil and gas sector in 2026.

The announcement was made by Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Batyr Amanov, during a government meeting held on January 9.

Another priority for the coming year is the launch of the next development phases of the Galkynysh gas field.

According to sectoral plans, the state concerns Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit have been tasked with:

  • developing oil and gas fields,
  • producing natural and associated gas, crude oil, and gas condensate,
  • manufacturing liquefied gas,
  • exporting Turkmen natural gas to global markets,
  • ensuring deeper oil refining,
  • supplying petroleum products to domestic and foreign consumers.

These measures form an important part of Turkmenistan’s energy strategy and aim to expand the country’s export potential and strengthen regional energy cooperation.
