The CAFA Video Match Officials Course officially kicked off today at Ashgabat Stadium, running from 4 to 8 February 2026. This marks the first time CAFA has held a refereeing seminar in Turkmenistan.
Organized in cooperation with the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, the programme aims to enhance the professional skills of national referees. Over five days, participants receive an in‑depth introduction to VAR technology, including:
- fundamentals of the VAR protocol,
- lines of intervention,
- decision‑making processes,
- clip analysis,
- tactical challenges,
- group discussions.
The course is led by chief instructor Jakhongir Saidov, former FIFA assistant referee and current referee assessor, who brings extensive international expertise.
This initiative highlights CAFA’s commitment to improving refereeing standards through education, innovation, and integrity, while strengthening collaboration with its Member Associations.
